Toon
Toon is a game published by Steve Jackson Games, and is very much modeled after Looney Toons. It's a humorous game, where death doesn't exist. This is an older game, published in the 80s or 90s, however. I wanted to mention it, because there's a revised edition coming out next year? New rules will ...

Re: Traveller
I feel that the saturation of D&D in the role playing community is so severe, it's like walking around seeing everything in grayscale. Since I bounced off the High Fantasy genre in general fairly quickly, it's allowed me to look around to see all the wonderful flavors of role playing systems ...

Traveller
This is a classic! Created in the 1970s, along the same time frame of Dungeons & Dragons, Traveller is recognized as the first Science Fiction role playing game, and over the fifty years of it's existence, it's gotten quite a number of revisions to it. There's like five versions of Classic Traveller ...

Re: Would you make an RPG?
Nah I think making RPGs (especially video game RPGs) is difficult. Not only do you need to come up with a good story, cool characters and a plot, you also need to program how your characters are going to level up, and how their stats are going to change each time they level up. Not only that but ...

Re: Cypher System
Cypher System sounds like one of those gems you discover by chance and end up loving. I like that it’s not too rigid. You can twist it into any kind of story you want. That flexibility makes it fun, especially when you want something fresh.
After exploring the publisher, Monte Cook Games, it ...

Re: Cypher System
I have a two hour commute via subway and bus just to get to work, and another two hour commute to get back home. Lot's of time to read and watch Actual Plays on YouTube. Someday I hope to get some friends together to actually play some of these games with somebody other than myself.

Re: SHIFT
What's really cool about this game is that you can make a World Spark. You can rename, add or even subtract the Core Traits from the game! So, like I could just rename Body to Strength, Mind to Focus, and Soul to Charisma, and add a fourth Trait named... Wealth (say the game has a spending mechanic ...

Cypher System
For my birthday this year, I was awarded a gift card over at DTRPG, so I went looking for a new system... you know me...miss I have a problem and collect WAY too many systems...anyway.
I took to DeepSeek and ran a query to determine a game that would allow me to run an epic magical girl battle ...

Re: SHIFT
It looks to be solid. The developers have stated on their Discord that the written material is completed, and that the digital version (without the artwork) will be released sometime between November (when the Kickstarter ends) and January 2026.

Re: SHIFT
It's pretty well backed already, by a factor of 12 this morning!
I've found a bunch of Works in Progress documentation to help flesh out how to build the game too. I'm super excited for the Kickstarter to be finished. Note, although I did back it, you don't get charged until the Kickstarter ends ...
