Phantasy star is a turn based RPG that was released on the Sega Mega Drive in 1989 in Japan and 1990 everywhere else. The first game is a dungeon crawler but this one ditched that mechanic. Fun fact, this game was programmed by Yuji Naka, who was the main programmer for the mainline Sonic games on the Mega Drive! This one also takes place 1,000 years into the future from the first game. I need to play this game someday.

I only played this series once on the PS2 I think it was, very fun and I should check out the older ones.

I really need to play through all the Phantasy Star games possible someday lol. I've heard good things about Phantasy Star Online, I think there's still active servers for the game too.

Are they official servers or fan servers being run by fans?Ravenfreak wrote: Tue Apr 21, 2026 11:24 pm I really need to play through all the Phantasy Star games possible someday lol. I've heard good things about Phantasy Star Online, I think there's still active servers for the game too.

Fan servers for sure, I couldn't tell you when the official ones were shutdown but it had to be a long time ago I would think. There's actually other servers for the Dreamcast in general that are up and running thanks to fans. If you have a dreamcast and a Raspberry Pi you can get it connected to the internet again.Demonskeith wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 6:32 amAre they official servers or fan servers being run by fans?Ravenfreak wrote: Tue Apr 21, 2026 11:24 pm I really need to play through all the Phantasy Star games possible someday lol. I should get a Raspberry Pi, it always seems to be used for lots of things.Ravenfreak wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 11:35 pmFan servers for sure, I couldn't tell you when the official ones were shutdown but it had to be a long time ago I would think.
