Monster Rancher

Post by Ravenfreak »

This is a series I've always wanted to try out once I found out about it. I didn't know it existed when I was a kid, but I was obsessed with Pokemon and Digimon at the time. Believe it or not this game had an anime too just like Pokemon! I think the coolest thing about Monster Rancher is the fact that you obtain new monsters by swapping out your game disc for other cds! This reminds me of the Scannerz Tiger Electronic toys but instead of scanning barcodes, you used CDs. Have you played this game before? It's also on the Switch, Steam and Android/iOS too so you don't have to play the original PS1 version!

I remember this, kind of Digimon/Pokémon rip off. Its a fun series, though I think it died out right?

Yeah it didn't really do as well as Pokemon or even Digimon. So it faded, it's cool they re-released the games on newer hardware though. Other series such as the Telefang series didn't even get that treatment as far as I'm aware, but it also didn't come out here in the States either.

I kind of blame it on its weird monster designs, or maybe the story? I can't recall all of it.
