Should RPGs be challenging, or should they be more accessible?
I think RPGs should create a fine line between accessibility and how easy it should be. Too easy is boring and too hard is so painful. So. Let us talk about the best difficulty balance for RPGs and what it is that manages to make a game pleasurable for players. Your take!

I think they should be a bit challenging. Speaking of RPGs that are dumbed down, Final fantasy Mystic Quest was an easier Final Fantasy game that Square made because they felt that North American audiences weren't good at RPGs, so they made it easy lol.

They need a balance, they shouldn't be over impossible, but not too easy either. Just enough to get it done and have fun.

A little challenge can be rewarding, but it must not frustrate players. Striking a balance, as you have mentioned is important. Players should be a able to achieve something when they overcome challenges.Demonskeith wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 5:09 am They need a balance, they shouldn't be over impossible, but not too easy either.
