A place to talk about the many wonderful stories that were told through gaming during the 8-bit era.

Looks like I am the only one here who has not played Pokemon. I don't know why I was never interested in playing this game. If someone wants to play Pokemon, how do you suggest he should be playing.

I would recommend playing one of the newer games. But if you want to see where the franchise started, you could play Pokemon Yellow since it's the definitive game from Gen 1.

So many fun memories, and the not so fun ones - like huddling under a lamp for light or watching the power light slowly start to dim lol! I played Silver and Crystal on the handheld too. The first two generations were definitely my favourite... but if I had to choose between them I think I'd go for Gen 1.
It's good to hear you fondly remember back to playing the first Pokémon games. I can relate with limited lighting issues too! It is incredible how those early games left such a significant mark on us and managed to remain as our nostalgic favorites.

I know for sure I had Pokemon Red, not sure if I picked up Yellow as well. They were simple and basic, but I loved them and had charm.

They really did! Plus back when they first came out, there were many fan sites that talked about rumors in the games and Pokegods were created. I believed in some of them too lol. I remember being disappointed when I couldn't get a Pikablu in my copy of Blue version as a kid lol.

I just finished a challenge in Red version using only Machop and attacking moves! I was going to do another challenge using just water type moves, but my Gameshark Pro isn't working anymore... So until I figure out what's wrong with it, I'm doing another challenge where I'm only going to be using poison type moves to try and beat Blue version this time around. I used a repro cart of Red since I couldn't find my legit copy and I hope it didn't damage my GameShark Pro. I could have bent a pin when I cleaned it last though... Anyways here's my challenge video.

My gameshark is perfectly fine, I just wasn't inserting the cartridges right lol. Anyways I made another video based around Yellow, but this hardware fault can happen in any of the Gen 1 or 2 Pokemon games. I think I should have picked a better thumbnail though oops lol.

I wish I had a game shark while growing up for Pokemon, would have made it a lot more fun.

I wish I had one as a kid lol. I didn't get my gameshark until I was an adult. My cousin had a Action Replay which is basically the same thing as a Gameshark (it was even made by the same company) for the GBA so I messed with cheats in Ruby.

Speaking of that copy of yellow version, this is what it looked like when I opened it up last night. :S That's soda from a decade ago. :?

I ran out of isopropyl alcohol so I couldn't finish cleaning the board last night, I do have some now though. This is what the top shell looked like after I cleaned it up, I think I did a good job!
