Have you ever lost progress from forgetting to save or having your save file vanish?

One time when I was a kid I was playing Yellow version and haven't saved in a very long time. I made it to Celadon City, picked up the Eevee from the mart and then my Gameboy shut off. I thought the NPC made my game glitch out because right after I talked to him after picking up the Eevee it shut off lol. Now I save like crazy!

When we had SNES, we lost our final fantasy 3 save due to the battery being bad and slamming the cart into the console reset everything :(

Losing progress is painful, and the real pain is in some cases when the device fails or it needs recharging. For many gamers, autosave functions are neccessary to remove that kind of saving hassle.

I forgot to mention another time I lost a save file. My dad and I had to share a memory card when I was a kid for the PS1. I got annoyed that he would delete my saves for his NHL 2000 saves, so he brought me to a local game store. I bought a memory card that had multiple pages on it. I copied my Legend of Legaia save over to the new memory card (well it was used not brand new) and the next day I went over to a friend's house. In fact she was a girl I was crushing on at the time lol. Anyways I went to load my save and it was deleted! I was going to show her that I named one of the characters after her lol. Anyways my dad took the memory card back and I got a purple transparent mad catz memory card that I still have to this day and it still works.

I have had my fair share where my saved files become lost, which can usually be very annoying, especially when a particular progress has been made. To avoid this, I have external backups or make some saves online.
