Anyone here play Breath of Fire on SNES? It was a bit clunky but still a decent and fun RPG.

I love this game! It's been a while since I played through the entire game. I actually played through it on a hacked Playstation Classic, but now that I have a flash cart I want to play it on a real SNES! I started playing the sequel too but got lost and never picked it back up sadly...

Breath of Fire is a great classic RPG and definitely has a huge following. The exploration, fighting, and character building made the game fun.

I have the ROM of it as well, I need to boot it up and give the game a good play through again.

Some people loved the new direction, while others felt it was a bit clunky, like you mentioned. Still, it's hard to deny the game's massive open world and innovative mechanics were super influential!

I still was amazed at how big the overworld was from Final Fantasy.

You are absolutely correct. Breath of fire tried some mechanics that didn't go well with everyone but its world-building and combat system was well executed and it left a lasting mark.

I do remember its menu being a bit messy, but made it different from other things.

That is true! The menu system was a little bit clunky, but that is what gave it its own unique flavor compared to other RPGs of that era though.

Music was pretty good in the game as well, battle theme didn't make it bad to go into battle constantly.
