What’s a RPG game mechanic that made NO sense?

Post by 1stop »

RPGs with auto-battle features can be very frustrating. It robs the excitement in battle and sometimes results in sudden defeats. There is nothing as bad as losing control of your characters, which can be very frustrating.

I never really liked going back and forth in a RPG that didn't make it easy to do so. What I mean by that is Pokemon has the HM fly, which allows you to revisit a town you've been to before. But in a game like Digimon World 3 that makes you go back and forth between different parts of the game without an easy way of doing so. I still love Digimon World 3 but I wish there was a mod that made it easier to go between areas.

Final Fantasy 8's magic system, didn't like it and was broken from the start if you ask me.

Advance wars I think it came out on GBC.

The storyline was twisted.

When I first played in Final Fantasy X, I could not understand a thing. It appeared as a board game and was really baffling.

I'm guessing the skill stat board was confusing?

I think Final Fantasy II's level up system doesn't make too much sense to me lol. Essentially you need to take a good amount of damage for your stats to go up which is odd. It's unique though I will give them that. It's broken in Origins, you can attack your own party members to get stronger lol.

FF 2 and FF 8 had really odd systems, just glad it never stuck.

Yeah the card game in 8 was odd lol. I didn't mind it too much since I did eventually understand it, but my wife hates 8 because of the card system. She couldn't understand it.

I enjoyed the card game in 8 and 9, though the version in FF 9 was a lot better.
