I actually just found out that you can keep getting nuggets from the Rocket Grunt after Nugget Bridge in Fire red and leaf green. xD If you bring a weak Pokemon with you, he'll knock your party out and you can keep getting nuggets. They didn't patch this in the Switch versions either!

Game companies don't tend to do too much patching, feeling old glitches is a part of the gameplay unless game breaking.
