What's your favorite battle system?

Post by Ravenfreak »

Turn based is my favorite battle system when it comes to RPGs! I can come up with strategies better if the battle system is turn based than hack and slash. I don't mind playing hack and slashes at times, but I have a bad habit of keeping an eye out on the enemy's health bar rather than what's going on around me. Tactical RPGs are a genre I didn't like growing up but I enjoy them now if they're turn based.

I love turn-based combat, like in Final Fantasy X. It gives me time to strategize each move, especially with the Sphere Grid system. I enjoy making tactical decisions, such as using a powerful summon at the right moment.

I loved the classic FF battle system up to 10, do not like it after that. Also love Kingdom Heart 2's battle system the most along with Persona 4 and 5's battle system.

I also love the turn-based battle systems. It has a totally different feel than action-related combat. They allow for tactical considerations and careful choices and can be so engaging.
