Very nice, I like cleaning up stuff like that, it can be rather soothing.

It is! I still need to fix this copy of yellow but I started another challenge in my wife's copy of yellow recently lol. I need to replace the batteries in my Gen 2 games soon so I can start challenges in Crystal or Gold! I have a Japanese copy of Silver too. But I should focus on the challenges I'm in the middle of in the Gen 1 games. Gen 1 isn't my favorite generation, but I find myself going back and playing these games quite often.

That's right those need batteries, ugh, I got a ton of GB games that are most likely paperweights now.

Yeah the gen 2 games are notorious for having dead batteries. The real time clock drains it faster! All my Gen 1 games other than my copy of Yellow are still holding on though. I know there's a device that can back up your saves before they end up being deleted due to the battery dying or if you accidentally cause Super Glitch to happen in Gen 1 and save when it's active. It messes up the checksum of the save file corrupting it and deleting it in the process.

My files are so old I wouldn't care they vanished, I would rather start over and enjoy it all over again.

Yeah same here lol, still I would be devastated if I had completed my Pokedex and then wanted to look at my Pokemon from my first save only to find out the battery died. I traded my copy of Crystal in to a local game store when I was younger, so I lost that save when I did that lol.

Ever go back to look for it? Might still be there, may never know.

Unfortunately that game store shut down about 7 years ago. I traded the game in decades ago so I'm sure someone else has it lol. Who knows where it's at?
